This brickwork project was a two stage project. It involved using historically-correct bricks, locally-sourced blue granite, and brick cornices that match the time period. Multiple skills were required to cut and point areas on the building to match the existing structure look and feel. Stone cutting and expert brick work required special team mechanics to be brought in to ensure it went together perfectly. The pictures show clean lines using bricks sourced from that time period.
Hand-laid brick projects are one of the most visible structural enhancements we do. The nature of the lines and pointing are critical to this work. Masonry mechanics are required to keep each line correct. Uniform spacing and clean grout lines are easy ways to see if your contractor has the skill to handle the job. Renzi Masonry has been handling this kind of work for decades.
This job for Brown Advisory shows the careful attention to detail that is not always apparent in the “Lick and Stick” kind of work that has become common in this line of work. Masonry is designed to last for decades, When properly applied, it can stand up to the harshest conditions.
